Valeri Kubasov
Flight engineer on Soyuz 19 during the first international docking.
Valeri Kubasov, a civilian spacecraft engineer from the Korolev design bureau, performed the first welding experiments in space on Soyuz 6 in 1969 and served as flight engineer on Soyuz 19 for the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project.
During the joint mission he shared meals and broadcast tours of the Soyuz to American television audiences. He flew a third mission in 1980, commanding a flight to the Salyut 6 station.
