William Pogue

Skylab 4 pilot; a Thunderbirds veteran who spent 84 days in orbit.

William Pogue flew combat in Korea and performed with the Air Force Thunderbirds before joining NASA. As pilot of Skylab 4 he spent 84 days aboard the station, logging over 13 hours of spacewalks.

Pogue’s candid reflections on pacing, fatigue, and the crew’s mid-mission scheduling stand-off influenced how NASA plans long-duration work to this day. He later wrote the popular book How Do You Go to the Bathroom in Space?
